I realized after the second batch of cold process soap that I am addicted to soap making. The first batch was a little scary working with lye. I took all the safety precautions wearing long rubber gloves, safety glasses, and a mask, and it went fine. Then after one batch of hot process crock pot shampoo bars, I know I am! The shampoo bars made my hair clean and soft without the need for conditioner. Yep, I'm hooked!
If you are making cold process soap, do you use the room temp. method? If not, you should try it. It will save time, no thermometer is needed, and no heating oils on the stove and checking temperatures. The chemical reaction of lye and water causes heat. So why heat the oils on the stove and waste time? On nice days I make it on the tailgate of my truck. We have an outlet nearby for the stick blender. It works great.
